CORE KENDRA WEEKLY UPDATE

Week 3 of spring kicked off with an energetic vyayam session although we were indoors. After our prarthna, bhajan and dhoon session, we had a baudhik/dasta session on homelessness. Baalako learnt more about the causes and effects of homelessness as well as ways we can help with this issue. https://www.streetlink.org.uk this is a link which can help get people off the streets and is a great way to contribute! Dastas then packed food bags which will be distributed to the homeless in central london monday evening. They then split off into their performace acts to practise for their big showcase towards the end of this term! Overall, another great week :)

BAAL MANDIR WEEKLY UPDATE

The baalako started of the day with the Dhwaj, remembering that it is the highest point in Shishukunj and we respect it the most. We then moved on to learning more of the Shishukunj prathna and the baalako have started to learn the tune of He Prabhu and singing rather than just reciting the words. It is important for us that the baalako understand what they are singing and they are beginning to have a simple understanding.  After Prathna we had a quick break. During the break the baalko listened to us take the shlok, and we taught them once again the reason behind why we do shlok linking into other religions In the western world that recite prayers before eating food and then they ate their nasto. After the baalako finished eating their nasto, they put their jackets on and went outside to play games. It is clear that the baalako are starting to be more tactical when playing games and showing skills such as teamwork and communication which is good to see.  They are really enjoying the games sessions and the physical development is shining through. We finished the day learning the dance for the showcase. They were learning the jungle dance but now they are learning a song based in Africa. After we did the dhwaj and said the Nara. Then we handed out the nasto while the baalako and the baalako had a few minutes to talk amongst themselves.
